Green Burgers

Do Popeye proud with these tasty green burgers! I'm normally not a spinach fan, but these are seriously good. I promise you'll forget that you're casually sneaking in a bunch of veggies with this meal.

Burger Ingredients:

  • 1 egg

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1 cup gluten free breadcrumbs

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic

  • 1 lb frozen spinach

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Pepper and oregano to preference

Ingredients for Cooking:

  • ~1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

Directions:

  1. Thaw frozen spinach, put in colander, and press out water for several minutes

  2. Mix all ingredients except breadcrumbs in a large bowl by hand until well distributed

  3. Add breadcrumbs and mix again

  4. Put mixture in fridge for ~10 minutes before cooking

  5. Pour slightly less than 1/4 cup of olive oil into a large skillet

  6. Add 1 teaspoon minced garlic to oil in skillet

  7. Make 6-8 burger patties and cook in skillet with lid on over medium heat

  8. Cook for about 7-8 minutes on each side, or until brown

  9. Enjoy!

You can use ground turkey in place of chicken in this recipe if you want, but I personally prefer chicken in this. I also usually eat these with ketchup & mustard and no bun, but you can eat them on a bun if preferred.
